My new hero

Now that my manuscript is with my editor – time to work through ideas for the next book. And at the moment I am thinking about the hero.

KIT Chandler. International yachtsman who has just retired and is now working for the family firm of architects.

I am working on different angles to layer on the emotional conflict for my hero [and heroine] but somehow I already know that this story is going to be about the lovely Kit.

He has challenged himself in crossing the Atlantic solo many times – but what is going to happen when he meets up again with the girl he left behind in the small Dorset coastal town all those years ago?

One interesting aspect are the visuals. My first model for Kit was model – and hunky Hollywood date for Jennifer Aniston et al, Paul Sculfor –

but as I started to build on his physical description, I knew that he had to be rougher, tougher, less polished, a boy who has climbed rigging in all weathers – strong and physical -Paul Walker comes to mind, only with longer hair. Does not care what other people think. Resilient and self driven.

And cheek. Tons of cheek. Does it then asks forgiveness rather than permission.

or maybe a touch of Ryan

You can see the basic similarities. Probably a composite will emerge. Decisions, decisions… this is such a hard life on a cold winters day. LOL

  1. LOL Lacey- the choices we have to make are SO tough – at the moment the bets are on Ryan with a dash of Paul, but perhaps they will all make it.

  2. Sorry the computer gobbled it up too quickly to change. It should read “…with all three in it…” I’m sleep deprived and probably shouldn’t be typing unsupervised 🙂
