18 WAYS TO FAIL AS AN AUTHOR ENTREPRENEUR

1, Write the same books as everyone else, in the same voice as everyone else, using the same words as everyone else, because someone told you that those books were selling and readers wanted the same story every time. Then wonder why you are depressed.

2, Have no story. Personal or fiction.

3, Don’t bother learning story craft – that’s the boring way.

4, Do it all on your own. Who needs a cover designer or editor?

5, Don’t join professional writers’ groups in your niche.

6, Write books for a tiny market but expect massive sales.

7, No vision or strategy for your writing career. Bumbling along works for you.

8, Choose to bootstrap and never invest in technology or training, even though you can afford it.

9, No focus. Shiny distractions keep you connected to the real world.

10, Too stubborn to take advice.

11, Not stubborn enough when it comes to managing your energy or time.

12, Don’t have a writing routine.

13, Don’t solve a problem for your ideal audience.

14, Fight and diss other authors.

15, Don’t read other books.

16, Don’t do the research and the background work.

17, Quit.

18, Never start.
