Prepare yourself for a shot of Shameless promotion softened with a Recipe for one of my favourite Italian veggie dishes – roasted red peppers.
The Irresistible Lure of Italian Food
What do you think of when you hear the word Italy?
Hot sunshine? Stylish design? Hotter men perhaps, and of course the most delicious cuisine. Coffee, olive oil, wine, cheese, pasta and cured meats. Regional dishes bursting with delicious aromas and taste sensations just exploding on the tongue.
Yes. I am talking about Italian Food!
Cooking is my hobby and my pleasure and many of my Harlequin titles are foodie romances. And here is one with something extra.
For the first time I have written a romantic mystery set in an Italian delicatessen. ‘Recipe for Disaster’ is a fun contemporary romance with a feisty Irish-Italian heroine and a hot Italian bad boy lawyer. Not much in common – except their love of good food.
So just for you – here is a special treat. My own recipe for roasted red peppers. Italian style! Simple ingredients – red Romano peppers, garlic gloves, a teaspoon of fennel seeds and Italian dried herbs and a sprig of fresh rosemary and of course wonderful Italian olive oil.
Tip – Half a teaspoon of salt helps the garlic become creamy when chopped.
I chop the garlic and herbs together with a little salt with a mezzaluna then smear the paste over the peppers with a drizzle of extra oil on a baking sheet lined with baking parchment.
Then roast at about 200 degrees for about 20 mins until the peppers are soft but not charred.
If you would like a taste of even more Italian treats – Grab yourself a bargain – my first Romantic Mystery ‘Recipe for Disaster’ is not on promotion from Carina UK at 99 pence!
Less than the price of a coffee for a hunky Italian lawyer, henchmen galore and convent school girls with attitude, all set in an Italian deli in London. Enjoy!
