Northern Lights

2012 is going to be a very special for me in so many ways – and I plan to start the new year as I mean to go on.

Mr Nina and I have decided to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary in style – by going on a trip of a lifetime. To see the Northern Lights in Norway.

When you were little did you have a secret little jewel box stuffed with newspaper clippings and photos, or ‘in the head’ list of dreamy images – of all the things which you are going to do ‘one day when you grew up’?

Well life is short lads and lasses, and you don’t know what is around the corner – so perhaps we shouldn’t put things off too long. And it is our 30th anniversary in 2012.  Time to make one of those long held ambitions come true.

So in late February we are off on a 12 day cruise from Bergen to well beyond the Artic Circle, up the coast from Tromso to the North Cape and the Russian border then back to Trondheim and the magical coastal villages along the way.

Even better, according to Nasa, this winter the solar energy is especially high so hopefully I shall see them more than once in the 12 days.

I am going to see the Northern Lights. And I could not wish for a more exciting or better Xmas and Anniversary present.

  1. Thank you Lacey. I am SO looking forward to it and keeping my fingers crossed that the weather holds when we are there.

  2. That sounds so incredibly fabulous, Nina! I’m so glad that you decided to do it for your 30th. It makes the trip that much more special. Wow, I’d love to see them too. I’m all shades of jealous just looking at those pictures 🙂
