Nina’s Top Reads of 2019

My Top Reads of 2019

This last 12 months has been a terrific year for new fiction but here is my list of books that I know that I will read again. Definitely on my print and virtual keeper shelves.

Here’s to more fabulous titles in 2020!

Mainstream Crime and Thrillers

Two authors whose work I read for the first time this year and will look out for in 2020.

Will Dean

I saw Dark Pines on NetGalley and was immediately hooked. These stories are set in a remote town in modern Sweden which is brilliantly described through the eyes of Tuva Moodyson, a deaf reporter at the local paper.

Dark Pines.

Red Snow

Steve Cavanagh

Started with Thirteen which won the Theakston Old Peculier Crime Novel of the Year Award for 2019 and rightly so. Then I bought and binged read the entire Eddie Flynn series of legal thrillers before passing them onto my DH who enjoyed them too.

The Defense.

The Plea.

The Liar.

P.J. Tracy

Ice Cold Heart.  A Monkeewrench Novel.

I have been a huge fan of the Monkeewrench police procedural series for years and this book was a winner.

Nicola Marsh

The Scandal

A very different book from one of my romance writing friends and an absolute winner.

Cozy Mystery- Fun Lighthearted and Uplifting Entertainment

Favourites this year include:

Swamp Santa by Jana DeLeon.

Book 16 in the brilliant Miss Fortune Mystery Series.

You can read book one in the series for free on Amazon – Louisiana Longshot.

Chickenlandia Mystery (Shady Hoosier Detective Agency Series Book 3). By Daisy Pettles .

The paranormal cozy mystery is super popular right now. When done well it adds to the small community settings these novels excel in.

Witch Is When It All Began (A Witch P.I. Mystery Book 1) By Adele Abbot [ released in 2017 as start of long running series]

The Vampire Knitting Club: First in a Paranormal Cozy Mystery Series by Nancy Warren. [ Set in Oxford and released in 2018 as start of long running series]

Once Upon a Time, Bitches. Design Your Fairytale Life, Control Your Destiny, and Become the Hero in Your Story by Branden LaNette

From the Oven to the Table: Simple dishes that look after themselves by Diana Henry

A hardback book to treat yourself with or ask as a gift. Stunning photography and superb recipes. I have used this cookbook several times a week since purchase.

Please note that I use affiliate links to the Amazon store for these books. Thank you.
